Synopsis of Stage Beauty

"Stage Beauty" is co-produced by the United States, Britain and Germany, starring Claire Denise, who starred in "Romeo and Juliet", as the heroine. In British theater in the seventeenth century, all female roles were played by men. Edward (played by Billy Crudup) is the most famous actress in Britain. He uses his natural beauty and acquired skills to imitate women and is appreciated by the nobles. However, King Charles II grew tired of the same routine and the theater finally allowed real women to perform. Edward faced an unemployment crisis, being ostracized and cursed by the world, framed and beaten by his enemies, living in embarrassment, and abandoned by the nobles, which made him drift with the crowd at the bottom, and he once had suicidal thoughts.
